Charlotte Huck Award for Outstanding Fiction for Children
罢丑别听Charlotte Huck Award庐 was established in 2014 to promote and recognize excellence in the writing of fiction for children. In particular the award recognizes fiction that has the potential for transforming children鈥檚 lives by inviting compassion, imagination, and wonder.
The award is presented at the Children鈥檚 Book Awards Luncheon at the聽.
The 91探花 Charlotte Huck Award庐 for Outstanding Fiction for Children Committee is charged to select the recipient of the annual Charlotte Huck Award庐 and up to five honor books, and to promote the use of children鈥檚 fiction books in the classroom.

Committee Member Expectations
- Current 91探花 membership is required of all committee members.
- Not currently serving on any other national book committees (ALA, IRA, 91探花, or other).
- Read all fiction books received in consideration for the award, typically around 1,000 annually.
- Participation in all committee work and several online meetings throughout the year is vital to the selection of quality books that speak to the award鈥檚 specific purpose.
- Only one in-person meeting is required each year in November. This meeting intentionally coincides with the 91探花 Annual Convention, where the final deliberation meeting and the 91探花 Children鈥檚 Book Awards Luncheon (where winners are honored and announced) are held. Annual in-person attendance is an important part of committee member responsibilities.
- Applicants should be prepared to pay, if selected for the committee, for all expenses related to 91探花 Annual Convention attendance (Convention registration, travel, lodging, and food). 91探花 scholarships for Convention registration are typically available, and committee members are welcome to apply. If institutional funds are available from your employer, 91探花 can provide any needed documentation to apply for or receive reimbursement.
